Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Recognise an emergency and respond with confidence — practical, nationally recognised skills for the workplace, the community and everyday life, in line with current Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

This unit gives you the skills and knowledge to recognise a casualty who is not breathing normally and to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It’s a focused, single-session course ideal for workers, volunteers, parents and community members who want to be ready to act.
What you’ll learn
- Responding to an emergency and ensuring scene safety
- Recognising when a person needs resuscitation
- Performing CPR following the DRSABCD action plan and ARC guidelines
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Reporting the incident and conveying details to emergency services
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. You will need to be physically able to perform uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor — a requirement set by the unit and the ARC guidelines. Pre-course reading or online theory may be issued before your session.
Delivery & assessment
Delivered face-to-face in a single session. Assessment is by practical demonstration of CPR on an adult and infant manikin, plus written or oral questioning. You must demonstrate competency to be issued a Statement of Attainment.
